How to get ready
- Check if your home could flood using the Environment Agency’s online flood maps.
- Sign up for flood warnings by phone, text or email.
- Check what your contents insurance will cover if a flood happens.
- Keep important items and documents upstairs or somewhere high.
- Use big sealable bags to keep valuables dry.
- Make a kit with things like torches, batteries, bottled water, food that lasts, and first aid items.
- Learn how to turn off the gas, electricity and water.
- Plan who will look after children and pets if you must leave.
- Pick a safe place your family can go.
- Make sure everyone knows the plan and has emergency contact numbers.
If flooding happens
- Move your family, pets, and cars to higher ground or upstairs.
Call Pinnacle to report flooding in your home or nearby. This will help DIO and their teams respond quickly.
What to expect
DIO and their repair teams will respond fast when you report flooding.
You’ll get regular messages about repairs and what you need to do. These may come through your unit.
If your home isn’t safe to live in, temporary accommodation will be arranged.
- Your home will be repaired to make it safe again.
- If the damage is too big, you may be given a new home.
